How to utilize the Auto Restoration Assistant on multiple computers with a common database | |
|
The Auto Restoration Assistant can be configured to share a database between multiple machines if needed. For example, if the database is stored on a removable USB drive, the drive can then be taken to a different machine and plugged in which would allow the program to access the same database. This will allow work to be done in the office or garage without having to worry about updating two databases or programs. Perform the following steps to configure:1) Move the Auto Restoration Assistant database currently being used to a shared location or removable storage device such as a USB thumb drive. Note: The default location of the database is C:\Program Files\Restoration Assistant\Auto\Restore.mdb. However, if installation is not licensed, then the database is name DEMO.MDB. Installation path may be different if custom install was choosen initially. 2) Open the Control Panel in Windows and select Administrative Tools / Data Sources (ODBC). This will open the ODBC Data Source Administrator. 3) Select the System DSN tab. 4) Highlight the data source named Restoration and click on the Configure button. 5) Click on the Select button to change the location of the database to the location defined in Step#1. 6) Launch the Auto Restoration Assistant and ensure the data is present and can be accessed from both computers.
